IIM Ahmedabad MBA Selection Criteria
IIM Ahmedabad MBA Admission is based on
- Students must have a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate or equivalent CGPA. Students belonging to the reserved category will be given 5% relaxation.
- The bachelor's degree must entail a minimum of three years of education along with 10+2 or equivalent.
- The conversion of marks or CGPA will be followed as per the norms of the university/institute from which the student has graduated. In case the institute/university does not provide any scheme of conversion then the IIM Ahmedabad will obtain the equivalence by dividing the obtained CGPA by the maximum CGPA and multiplying the result by 100.
- Aspirants appearing for the final year examination of the qualifying exam can also apply provided they submit the required documents in the stipulated time. Such a candidate’s admission will be on a provisional basis and will be confirmed when the student submits the mark sheets and certificate of passing the Bachelor’s degree with a required minimum percentage.

The key changes in the admission criteria announced by IIM Ahmedabad in shortlisting and final selection process for admission to MBA(PGP) are mentioned below:
- CAT 2023 Score gets 65% weightage in the Shortlisting process.
- Work experience will carry 5% weightage at shortlisting stage.
- Sectional score required for CAT 2023 is 70 percentile for each of the three sections.
- 80 percentile is the overall minimum CAT 2023 score required for the selection process.
- In final selection PI-WAT carries 60% weightage.
- In the final admission selection 2024 only 25% weightage will be given to the CAT score.

IIM Ahmedabad MBA Admission Process is divided in 2 stage, they are as follows:
Stage 1:
On the basis of Composite Score, Candidates are Shortlisted for AWT-PI Round.
Calculation for Composite Score= .35* (Pro-rated AR Score/35) + 0.65* (Normalised overall CAT Score).
Stage 2:
Based on Composite Scores, Students are called for Analytical Writing Test (AWT) & Personal Interview (PI) for further Selection. Final Selection is based on Candidate’s Overall Performance in CAT / GMAT Scores, Performance in AWT & PI Round, Academic Scores & Work Experience.

To fill the application form, aspirants are requested to follow the steps mentioned below:
- Visit https://iimcat.ac.in.
- Click on New CAT Registration
- Fill in all the required details and provide a valid email and phone number.
- Applicants will receive a user id and password for further use.
- Enter the OTP and click on Validate OTP and submit after entering the Captcha Code.
- Check on “I Agree” and submit the CAT application form.
- After submitting the details, a message on the registered mobile number containing the Password and an email containing the User ID will be sent.
- Post successful completion of CAT Registration, a unique login id and password is generated.
- These credentials are vital for filling CAT Application Form 2023.

Course Curriculum Overview:
I chose this course because I realised I have the soft skills necessary for a great manager. I wish to lead and work with great people in the future and become the best version of myself on this journey. This course shall teach me to become not just a great manager but a great person too. IIM Ahmedabad has an elective on Bhagavad gita and the managerial lessons from it. I really look forward to learning from professors who have done their PhDs in respective subjects and some even have job experience.

Course Curriculum Overview:
This course provides case-based learning pedagogy which provides strong basics in management theories. Every class is required a pre-reading of the case and thorough research on the case. The Faculty to student ratio is 0.3. It is worth noting that IIMs are known for small class sizes and high student Faculty ratio. there are Ph.D. scholars and academic associates to aid in students' learning process. Most of the faculty hold advanced degrees, they submit research papers as part of their KPI. Faculty uses a different styles of teaching like role play, group discussions, presentations, and projects. It also provides guest lectures and creates opportunities to interact with industry experts to know the current situation around the world. The complete PGP-MBA program has six terms, each year with 3 terms. each term has a mid-term tentatively after half of the course period and end term at the end of the term period.

IIMA PGP programme is top-ranked in India. So, I chose it. The faculty-student ratio is very good. Foreign faculty is also present in many courses. There are 3 terms a year & in each term, mid-term & end-term exams are conducted.

The faculty-student ratio is 2:1. The end-term exams are practical knowledge-based rather than theoretical knowledge however thay are quite easy if students pay attention in lectures.

The course content is highly industry-focused and tough. Faculty members are highly qualified, with a minimum of ten years of expertise. The student-to-teacher ratio is around 75:1. We have course organisers as well, and we may contact them at any moment in the event of an emergency. The term examinations consist mostly of case studies based on presentations. The end-of-term examinations are not difficult if you pay attention in class and pay attention to the professors.

The course curriculum is very Industry oriented rigorous. The faculty members are highly qualified having experience of a minimum of 10 years. Hence this helps us in getting real life experience of industries from the faculty. The student faculty ratio is about 1:2. We have course coordinators as well and in case of any emergency, we can go to them anytime. The term exams are case studies based mostly on presentations. In between the trimesters we also have real life project opportunities where we work with industries like Amazon, Deloitte etc. The end term exams are not that tough if you pay attention in the class and listen carefully to the faculties.
Fee Structure And Facilities:
The whole course like including accommodation, tuition, and everything the cause around 24 lakhs as is mentioned on the website but you would need some amount for your personal expenses probably like 5-10 thousand per month depending on your own personal expenditure. Most people do not avail mess food and mess food is not included in the fees. So, you will have to pay for that on your own. Since most people do not avail of mess food, they either eat other food on campus or order from outside. So, depending on that your monthly expenditure would be.There are some scholarships available but I'm not sure about that. I'm not aware that how many people avail themselves of them.

All in all in combined one year we have around 30+ subjects and in each trimester you have more than 10 subjects but that varies like some we have 11, some have 10 and the exam difficulty I would say It is a bit high but It is manageable like if your attention to class you can easily manage the course. Other than that, every course is different so like there is no like set standard that this has to be done. It is been a bit tuff for me because I believe my interaction capability is limited when it comes to online. So, I think that in an offline set up this would have been much better, the experience would have been much better, probably would have made a lot more connection than currently. But as per as learning was online course way like don't hamper learning much excepting cases on some subjects.
Fee Structure And Facilities:
The fee structure is INR 3.5 lakhs per trimester. It translates to around INR 11.25 lakhs a year. The first is slightly more than the others. The total is a little more. So, there are a lot of scholarships. Firstly, on the basis of Merit in which the top 10 rank holders in the merit list, and then there are others on the basis of economic status, and a lot of other things are there. So, there must be around 8 to 10 different kinds of scholarships. We are made aware of that in the induction session as well.

We have the trimester system. I don't know the total number of faculties but there are 13-14 courses. There are 39 for the total year. It varies from course to course anywhere from 10% to say 50%.

The curriculum is a bit rigorous, from the moment you enter the college, the first 6-10 months are quite intense, there are presentations, assignments, corporate competitions, there are numerous amount of deadline you have to meet, the curriculum tries to put the students in enough pressure that they are able to handle any situation in future.

The course is usually case-based, where the case ranges from HBS to some written by our own faculty members. The Professors here have studied from top colleges and are masters in what they teach, they know what they are talking about. It is imperative for one to do pre-class reading, as there is heavy weightage given to the in-class participation. We have marks ranging from 10% to 30% for Class Participation, depending from course to course. There are three terms per year, further divided as 2 slots per term. The end of each slot sees exams. Each faculty member decides how he wishes to assess the student in that course. Some course has exams, while some have projects and assignments. The grading is relative and follows a normal distribution curve. If one studies well, it is easy to score well. It is said, 'It is very difficult for anyone to fail at IIMA.'
