IIT Roorkee BTech Admissions 2024 are expected to start in June – July 2024. IIT Roorkee offers BTech as its flagship program where admissions are granted as per JEE Advanced score followed by JoSAA counselling.JoSAA has released the round 1 – 6 cutoff for IIT Roorkee. JEE Main registrations are expected to start from November 2023 and the exam will be conducted in 2 sessions. Candidates having a valid JEE Main score need to register for JEE Advanced, where registration will commence in April 2024.Currently, NTA has released the JEE Main 2024 Session 1 and Session 2 Exam dates. JEE Main 2024 Session 1 will be conducted on January 24, 2024 and Feburary 1, 2024. The session 2 exams will be conducted on April 1, 2024 and April 15, 2024.

IIT Roorkee offers a 4 year B.Tech course in 11 specializations. The course is divided into 8 semesters.
Shortlisted candidates have to register themselves for JOSAA Counselling for seat allocation.

IIT Roorkee B.Tech Eligibility Criteria

The candidates must pass the class XII examinations with subjects like Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as main subjects and must in the top 20% percentile in the 12th examination
Students must secure 75% (for general category students) in aggregate in class XII, and 60% (for SC, ST candidates) from a recognized state or central board.

IIT Roorkee B.Tech Selection Criteria

The IIT Roorkee selects its candidates for B.Tech through the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA).
The students must appear in the JEE advanced and must have a score above the IIT cut off score.
The shortlisted candidates are invited for the counselling process.
The Joint Association Board conducts a total of 8 rounds of seat allotment i.e 2 Mock rounds and 6 rounds of counselling for allocation of seats to the participating institutes.

IIT Roorkee B.Tech Course Details

The four year B.Tech programme comprises courses divided into five distinct areas namely: Institute Core, Programme Core, Programme Elective Courses, Open Elective Courses, co-curricular/extracurricular activities.

The Programme core courses consist of courses considered essential for a chosen engineering/ science discipline, including laboratory courses, practical training and a major project.
The students are free to select a number of courses from a gamut of courses offered, depending upon their interests and course structure.
Students are allowed to select courses from other departments in different semesters and years so as to complete 20 credits required to fetch them additional certification in terms of Minor Specialization in other disciplines.
Each academic year is divided into two semesters and teaching programs are organized around the credit system. Teaching includes lectures, tutorials, practicals, projects, seminars, dissertations and field & industrial training.

IIT Roorkee BTech Placements

IIT Roorkee Placements 2023 is in progress. The highest CTC stood at INR 1.3 CPA and the highest International CTC stood at INR 1.06 CPA. A total of 500 offers have been made as of Day 2 of the placement drive. A total of 63 recruiters participated in the placement drive. Major recruiters included BCG, Bajaj Auto, Flipkart, Tata Steel etc.

During IIT Roorkee placements 2022, a total of 265 organizations visited the campus and 1,200 PPOs were made. Students received 32 international placement offers during the placement drive. Life at IIT Roorkee

Likes:
Night life at IIT Roorkee is beautiful and calm.,
I liked that the campus is very green and clean, it is regularly maintained.,
Peer group here is excellent. Everybody is talented.

Dislikes:
I don't like the fact that the environment is competitive.,
We have relative grading, so we have to perform better than others.,
I dont like that the few professors are careless about their course.

Course Curriculum Overview:

My course is chemical engineering. I had an interest in physics, and also chemical engineering deals with scaling aspects of chemistry. This intrigues me. The faculty here at IIT Roorkee is very good. They have good knowledge of their field.

Beauty of IIT ROORKEE (Dream college)

Campus beauty and the it's location which makes it accessible to all beautiful places.,
Helping nature of seniors and faculties in developing my skills.,
Sports and other facilities provided was far better.

Dislikes:
Mess food was a little bit not good in 1st year.

The course curriculum of IIT ROORKEE is much better than any other IIT if considered for the same branch, this was one reason I opted for it. Moreover, it was the best option for me at my performance or rank. Faculties are also well experienced. There is no problem in the teaching method and even you are provided with doubt facilities by the respective faculty. If teaching is good obviously exams will be of better level means it is a bit tough.

The Course Curriculum At Iitr Is Intensive And Industry Relevant. I Chose Metallurgy For 2 Reasons. Firstly It Was My Rank And Secondly, I Was Quite Interested In Studying Material Science Since My +2. Faculty Student Ratio Is Decent Here. All The Profs Are Well Qualified With Phds From International Universities. There Are Two Exams Per Semester And The Toughness Is Greater Than That Of Jee Advanced.

Likes:
As previously it was civil engineering college so it's infrastructure is quite impressive,
Our department faculties are helping nature reason being they are young and can relate with us.

Dislikes:
Rajendra Bhawan mess is not as good as other hostels so first year btech students might face a problem with that.,
Girls and boys ratio is quite low it is around 1:4 to 1:5

IIT Roorkee has an industrial-used curriculum also this IIT Roorkee changes its course curriculum and makes it more and more industrial touch. Whereas if I say about faculty members then some very best professors and some are average and some have rude behaviour but not in educational qualification in educational qualification are professors are highly qualified.

An honest IIT Roorkee Review.

Likes:
I really like the campus along with the life it comes with. Green and lush campus.,
I really like all the sports facilities and all the canteen food (its cheap and good).,
I really like the place too. You can go visit place Mussoorie, Shimla, Manali In vacations because its all in about 200-300 km radius.

Dislikes:
I really hate Curriculum, Mess food, Hostels.,
The campus is not too big. If you keep walking it just ends in an hour.,
I really dislike the teaching methods of professors.

The curriculum is fine. Not great not bad. You are taught a bunch of unnecessary subjects along with your main curriculum. The professors are not great. They are experts in their own fields but they don't know how to teach. They are all highly qualified but teaching methods are just too orthodox. Exams are conducted in midterms and End terms per semester.

The Campus life, the social interation with the other students and seniors.,
Course are just amazing .,
The Infrastructure is just amazing. The James thomson builing which is the main attraction of IIT Roorkee

Dislikes:
The hostels. Hostel in IIT Roorkee is just average (not so good not so baad).,
The mess and the food here is also just average,
Senior junior relation is just too formal.

I choose this course because it's a dual degree so I'll have my Mtech done in just 5 years. And I wanted to explore this field. Also In future, I will like to do field work and this course is perfect for field work jobs. About the faculty here the thing is the faculty is so experienced and talented. IIT's faculty: student ratio is very good. And also the TA's: student ratio is quite nice as compared to the other colleges. The faculty qualification is very much satisfying for the students here. The faculty here also has so much experience, there are some professors who are teaching here for more than 20 years. Also that the professor here have experienced everything in their life as they had been in jobs, research etc. So they have explored all fields. The Alumni of our college are just mind-blowing. Our professors have patents in almost every field. About the exams, there are 2 exams in a semester one is mid-term and the second is End term. It's easy to pass exams but.

Campus life : beautiful campus with many hangout places,
Cultural Clubs: you will really find a very good friend circle in these clubs.,
Canteens: they are just best to give you chill pill from the boring mess food

Dislikes:
Hostel life: Hostel are not that good and mess is also after a time being boring

My course focuses on Mechanical aspects and involves industrial engineering. Faculty students ratio - 19:1 Every professor is Phd in their field and well qualified. There are 1 mid-term and 1 end-term exam and quizzes and practicals throughout the semester. They are easy to pass.

By The 12Th Class, I Have Developed an Interest In Physics. Faculty: Student Ratio is 10:1. They Are Very Much Qualified. All Are PhD Holders In Their Respective Subjects. All The Exams Were On Time But Due To Corona Exams Got Rescheduled. Exams Difficulty is Moderate.

Mess food sucks. Toilets were not English. So that was also a problem.,
The campus is 355 acres. But it gets small pretty fast.,
The course is fine but the professors have no clue how to teach.

The curriculum is fine. You do learn a bunch of unnecessary subjects. Professors are awful. It's a very hard task to find a good professor. They are all highly qualified but don't know how to teach. Exams are done in mid-terms and then end terms about 2.5 months apart. And they are very tough. Because you don't study in college.

An Honest review

Likes:
Great campus life , nice atmosphere ,intellectual people

Dislikes:
Mess food is not very good as usual , clubs here need prior knowledge to enter them .

I choose EE branch because I wanted to explore more in core section, the course is structured and well planned, we are provided teaching assistant for solving our tutorials doubts regularly, and all the facilities are well experienced with 5-6 years of teaching experience at least, exams are generally difficult to pass and we have midterms and end terms here.

Does IIT Roorkee provide M.Sc. in Data Science for a B.Sc. (Hons) Mathematics graduate ?

IIT Roorkee does not offer M.Sc in Data Science. The university offers only M.Tech in Data Science at the postgraduate level. You must have a B.Tech degree from a recognized university to be eligible for admission.
