The order of preference of institutes is always subjective as it depends on a variety of factors. Some of these include Fees: Great Lakes fees are higher than IITs and sometimes the difference is as high as 10 Lakhs. Duration: The one-year courses are time-saving and less expensive than 2-year ones. ROI: The ROI is a very crucial component. Great Lakes may have high fees but since you will be studying just for a year and then again start earning, you will be able to pay back the loan quite early. IITs have low fees so their ROI is also great. Placements: The placement scenario of all the aforementioned institutes is similar. However, Great Lakes has more opportunities in the IT sector while IMT and IITs have more opportunities for Marketing. Facilities: Great Lakes has better infrastructure, facilities, and campus life in comparison to the other institutes. Based on your preferences and priorities you can come up with your own order for preference. For me it is GL (1 yr) > IIT's > KJSOM

First-year students of IIT Kanpur or any other institute are prone to distractions and thus need a disciplined approach to not lose focus. Make sure you have a good CPI throughout. Everything eventually boils down to your CPI, be it placements, higher education, or anything else. It’s a common experience for students to get a setback in the initial years considering the drastic change in the level of physics. You need to be patient and adapt yourself to the high-level courses. Apart from your wingmates, befriend your batchmates in your department as well. This will help you form a study group during exams. Don’t question your decision. Trust me, this is the best department you could be at. The opportunities offered will shape your career perfectly. Balance out your academic stress with some extracurricular activities and enjoy your college life to the fullest. Lastly, talk to your friends or professors in case of any problems!

Can someone who has opted for a branch change in IIT Kanpur share their experience?

My brother shared his branch change experience which wasn’t as difficult as people claim it to be. You did require more than average efforts and were challenging but not impossible. He was able to manage it by completing his assignments regularly and being focused in class. Your goal has to be to get a high CPI by being consistent with your studies. At IIT Kanpur, you can either have a fun-filled college life experience or you can excel in academics, the choice is yours. It’s all about priorities. I know many nerds who worked day and night and eventually got CPI 10 after their first year. It’s all about your priorities. Basically, a 9+ CPI is not that difficult to achieve and a 10 requires some extra effort. However, uncertainties always happen, and depending solely on branch change is not a wise decision.

I was admitted to IIT Kanpur through JEE Advanced exam. The eligibility criteria for this was to clear the exam with a rank of under 8000. The application process was through JoSAA who alloted me the college and branch according to my preferences.

To enroll in this course you have to pass the JEE Advanced entrance exam first. Then you must score above the cutoff to enroll in a B.Tech degree. To appear in JEE Advanced exam you have to clear JEE mains to a certain cutoff. There is a reservation for each category such as SC caste students must score above 75 percentile in JEE mains to appear in JEE Advanced and again they have to score a minimum of 70 marks to enroll in IIT KANPUR.

I chose this course due to my interest in research, and IITs are the best platform for research and higher studies. The faculty is excellent, the professors are talented and you also get tuition for doubts and question-solving.

Very hard academics and frequent quizes and exams

I took Jee mains and advanced. It is the most common engineering entrance exam and if you want to enter my college's mechanical branch then you must have an AIR of less than 3200 as per the previous year's cutoff and if you have an obc reservation then may be around 8k. I think the admission process should remain the same for IITs.

I chose this course due to its placement record as it was the best I was getting and as Mechanical is an old branch it's a quite researched and safe field. Faculty faculty-student ratio is good like 1:17.4 . The grading is quite tough and the academic is rigorous. IITK is considered academically the most challenging IIT of all.

The hostel life is at its best so this is first thing.,
You get to learn a lot from surrounding which improves your personality.,
The prof are highly qualified and education you get the best of them.

The competition is always there it feels you are running in race,
The quiz and exams take place every 15 days .,
The hostel food can be improved the permanent dislike.

You need to clear jee advanced to get admission, which is conducted every year, and the cutoff for which varies every year, so to get into it you should study to your full potential which can guarantee your success.

The course runs in semester I am of 4 months, and the faculty members are highly qualified but the whole thing is you will study only before the exam so all those things don't matter that much I think so overall it is good. The exams were always on time and the checking was strict, there was a semester system.

Admission process is done through JOSAA counselling based on your JEE Advance rank. I gave JEE in 2022, the cut off for the course was rank 237.If you qualify advance, then you are qualified for the course if you have that or better rank. Application form can be found online.

I choose this choose because i had a core interest in CSE. Here we have an excellent faculty student ratio that is 9 : 1. The faculties and the tutors are highly qualified and had been studied from renowned universities and did their phd there.The teaching method depends upon the faculty, some has old methods, and some has new methods. Timely exams held every 1.5 months and are not so difficult.

during my admission to IIT KANPUR for chem engg I went through JEE exam and also passed my 12th grade with decent marks. I should have been born after 1996 and cleared 12th grade with 75 or more percent I registered through jee advanced website and uploaded documents etc.

the courses are good and some professors give a new point of view to things you have never thought of before very extensive study sessions and teaching methods faculty to student ratio is about 15students:1faculty most are Ph.D. holders and have a unique set of teaching methods exams very difficult.

Admission to IIT KANPUR was from exam jee advance 2020 where the cutoff was 105 of Obc. There are some advantages of getting a good rank in the category as iits give benefits of category rank in the admissions process. I don't think that there should be any improvement in the admission process of iits as it is already at the best level and an easy process that took place by jossa. The application form for jee advance can be found on its official website jeeadvanced.com form are out in May after jee mains took place in April which we have to qualify.

The faculty staff is good every month new innovations take place in iits. The student ratio is about 1:6 which is getting improved year by year. Quality of teaching is also at the best level. In a semester 2 exams are there mid-semester and end semester difficulty level is hard

Admission in btech course in iitk required to quilified the jee main and jee advance with the good rank according to what you want the which course in iitk . For the admission process the application form of the jee mains release in the month of november end or start of the december the fee of the form is 1000 rupees . The jee main are conduct two times in every year . After this exam top 2.5 lakh students are the eligible for the jee advanced and given the exam . The top 16k approx student are eligible for the taking the admission in iitk but it is also depend on the category to category .As per the government rule the reservation benifits take the obc-ncl , st , sc , gen-ews candidate.If any candidate belong to the reservation then he\she got the good branch at the below rank . For the improvement government work on this process and from this upcoming students have smooth conducting of exam.

I am chosen this course because of the my jee rank but after coming in iitk i am realise that this course is interesting for me. if anyone also required to take a other department course then they also take some course take as elective . here the faculty and student ratio are good for every class have tutorial session and the tutorial class strength is small because there are many section divide for the tutorial.The qualification of the faculty is highly good and more experienced in the teaching .Here the in exam policy there have quiz , midsem exam and fianl exam. the exam scheduled timely and announced in the first course handout or in the class. for the passing of the course required to attend the all classes and tutorial then you pass the course easily but some course required hard work for the passing.

The admission process is quite fine, Firstly I have given Jee mains and then Jee Advanced. I have cleared Jee Advanced with a rank of 2423. This allows me to opt for Electrical Engineering at IIT Kanpur. My OBC rank was 387 and I have received admission to a college in Electrical engineering. There was no admission form for this all happened online through the Jossa counseling service. We only have to come and join the college after payment of admission fees. There was a cutoff rank for every branch.

I have chosen this department because I have some interest in this department and also due to the rank constraint. Electrical Engineering is the second best branch according to the saying of the people. There are a very large number of faculty members each one is highly qualified in their field. There is always research work happening in the labs by them for innovations. The teaching method of every professor is unique but at the end of the day, we have to learn by ourselves. There are quizzes very frequently depending on the course and the professor some courses have 2 quizzes, some have 4 while some have 7-8 quizzes(every week). There were mid-sem and one end-sem exam in a semester.

Admission is done via jee entrance all-India exam. Top performing students enter the institute the cut-off is been decided by rank secured in the exam. Many students securing ranks between 100-300 opt for Iitk CSE.

The course curriculum is nice and the student-friendly teachers are also quite good also they encourage if you have any doubts. The only thing here is relative grading which makes it good and also bad. Exams are at their pat level and test your knowledge.
